5 things to do in Manchester after lockdown

With the 17th of May signalling the next easing of lockdown restrictions in the UK, indoor gatherings up to 6 people and outdoor gatherings up to 30 people are once again possible. This means there are more activities available to do in Manchester once again, 5 of which we’ve comprised into this informative blog.

1. RHS Garden Bridgewater

Located within the historic grounds of Worsley New Hall in Salford, just a short journey from Manchester, RHS Garden Bridgewater is the largest walled garden that you can visit in England. Run by the UK’s leading horticultural charity, it’s the perfect opportunity to reconnect with nature, which is well-known to have a positive impact on your mental wellbeing.

To attend, you need to book a time slot, and make sure you still follow government guidance on coronavirus whilst in attendance.

2. It’s time to go HOME

HOME, Manchester’s centre for contemporary film, art and more has now reopened. As part of their reopening programme, they are putting on 2 new exhibitions and a programme of film releases that includes three Best Picture Oscar nominees. A new film season looking at filmmaking on film is also taking place, meaning a wonderful opportunity to broaden your cultural horizons.

3. Try a live escape room

Now that we’re able to meet indoors in groups of up to 6 again, the live escape room at Breakout MCR is the perfect place for you and any family or friends to collectively flex your brains. Whilst there, you choose from a host of unique themes for the escape room before you are tasked with solving a series of puzzles, riddles and tasks as you attempt to escape in under 60 minutes.

4. Enjoy an indoor meal at a newly reopened restaurant

RestaurantAlthough many restaurants and pubs have been serving outdoors since April, plenty of others have been unable to reopen until indoor hospitality was once again possible. Peter Street Kitchen, Dakota Grill and Fazenda are 3 that have just reopened that you might consider paying a visit to.

With the pandemic hitting the hospitality industry so hard, many of the reopening pubs and restaurants will be relying on the support of the Manchester community. So, by enjoying an indoor meal, you can support local businessmen and women too.

5. Take a tour of Old Trafford

For any Manchester United fans who are yet to take a tour of Old Trafford, tours of this iconic football ground are now running once again. Get up close and personal with the pitch and players’ tunnel and other locations not accessible to the public. Adult tickets cost £25 and junior/concession tickets £18 if you pre-book online.
