We recently completed a full window replacement project for Moorcroft, a debt recovery company based in Stockport. Their old windows had started to deteriorate with the window closures becoming damaged. They were concerned about the safety of the windows for their staff and also wanted to improve the building’s energy efficiency and reduce their carbon footprint.

A challenging large-scale project in a live working environment

Our clients at Moorcroft were looking for a local, well-established, experienced, and financially sound company and Droylsden Glass ticked all the boxes. Following the initial meeting, they felt confident that Droylsden Glass would be able to call on their wealth of experience and expertise to devise a suitable installment plan for the window upgrade project.

One of the main challenges we needed to over come was the working hours and access.  We worked closely with the client to ensure we installed the windows at a time and date which was convenient for them, and which caused minimum disruption to their day-to-day operations.

Site access was arranged to ensure that the scaffolding caused minimal disruption to the parking situation. We removed the necessary section which was impeding the car park as soon as possible to allow better access to the car park for the staff.

High performing Spectus uPVC vertical sliding sash windows

The project involved using two different uPVC window suppliers to achieve the desired results for our clients. The largest part of the project involved installing 75No vertical sliding sash windows, two of which were arched. The windows were specified in plain white.

To ensure that the office environment was completely safe, child restrictors were installed on all the windows. Trickle ventilation was installed to meet current building regulations requirements and the windows also featured tilt restrictors for additional safety.

For the glazing, we used 4mm Low-E Planitherm Total+ glass. Featuring Warm Edge spacers, the specialist glazing helped to maximise energy efficiency performance for a warmer interior environment. The glazing design was completed with white Georgian bars to match the original window style and privacy film was also applied to ensure a private working area.

To complete the installation project, we installed several white uPVC windows from Deceuninck. Again, these windows featured both restrictor hinges and trickle ventilation. To match the style and performance of the Spectus vertical sliding sash windows, they also featured 4mm Low-E Planitherm Total+ glass with Warm Edge spacers and white Georgian bars.

Our clients at Moorcroft were delighted with the results of the project and left us this glowing customer testimonial:

‘We had put off our replacement window project so many times due to the dreaded impact we felt this may have on the day to day running of our business. But after meeting Droylsden Glass, they

were able to allay our fears and devise a stringent installation plan which provided our company with the confidence to go ahead with a full window installation.

Although we faced several obstacles during initial planning, Droylsden Glass managed to address each issue with a comfortable solution to ensure the smoothest window installation we could ever have envisaged with no disruption to the running of our business.

We are grateful to the team of expert fitters who were able to work many unsociable hours to adhere to the final restricting schedule. Especially stand in project manager Lewis who was always available and competently managed the project first-hand.

The professional attitude and standard of work of the whole team was excellent. All team members were polite, considerate, careful, punctual, reliable, and ensured they kept things clean and tidy. We would not hesitate to recommend or use Droylsden Glass again.’
