- Commercial Case Studies
We work with many commercial projects. This time, we carried out works in Audenshaw Primary School to replace the original windows and doors, focusing on improving the school’s thermal efficiency. We wanted to remain sympathetic to the traditional Georgian style of the building and incorporate the school’s logo colour.
Recommended by other schools and a returning customer
Over the years, we have worked with many schools and have been recommended by many, growing our commercial school portfolio. Due to our experience, expertise, and ability to work within a school’s budget, we have worked at Audenshaw Primary for over ten years. This project is number 17 for Droylsden Glass and the school.
We proudly worked to deliver new windows and doors throughout the school, keeping in mind the need for energy efficiency, low maintenance, and having to be considerate of the building’s traditional Georgian aesthetic.
High-performance sash windows for primary schools
Our client advised us of the importance of thermal efficiency as they were experiencing high energy bills eating into the school’s budget and resources. When we assessed the original windows and doors, we found them in a poor state of repair, and replacement was the most cost-effective option.
We recommended the uPVC casement window and incorporated an astragal bar glazing feature to stay in keeping with the exterior style of the school whilst meeting the client’s brief. We fitted naturally insulating white uPVC double glazed windows from the Liniar range and combined with A-rated, low E laminated glazing throughout to improve the building’s energy efficiency. For high-level windows, we included the H20005 link bar folding openers for easy staff use and a source of natural ventilation when required.
Security measures for school children and staff
Safety was one of our top concerns. To keep all students and teachers safe, we installed Senior Aluminium Systems doors and provided anti-finger trap door stiles to keep small hands safe from harm and Euro hooklocks for additional security. We also considered the importance of accessibility for the school and installed low aluminium thresholds to prevent trips or falls and give user-friendliness to all who visit Audenshaw Primary.
We ordered the aluminium doors in RAL6005 Moss Green to replicate the colour of the school logo giving in an aesthetically pleasing appearance that retains the school’s original character.
